Leeds United have reached an agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach for the transfer of Switzerland international Nico Elvedi, with the 29-year-old defender traveling to England for a medical on Monday.
The deal is valued at an initial £6.8 million, with £1.7 million in potential add-ons, ending Elvedi’s 11-year stint with the German club. The 73-cap veteran, who featured in this summer’s World Cup, is expected to sign ahead of Leeds’ Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
Manager Daniel Farke declined to confirm the transfer until medical and paperwork are finalized, stating, “We expect something to happen in the next 48 hours.” The move could enable fringe defender Sebastiaan Bornauw to join Hamburg on an initial loan with a purchase option.
