Police Arrest 13 Suspected Kidnappers In Benue

Benue State Police command has arrested 13 kidnappers terrorising the state alongside one Mohammed Usman Omachoko, who specialized in preparing protection charms for kidnappers.

The police public relations officer, Catherine Anene who disclosed this in a statement informed that following the increase kidnapping in the Benue southern part of the State, the commissioner of police, CP Wale Abass has ordered the deployment of  tactical teams to the area to arrest the kidnap syndicates grouping in the area.

As a result of the deployment men of “Operation Zenda” JTF trailed and arrested the following persons in connection with the case of Kidnap that happened on 4/12/2022 involving the commissioner for housing/ urban Development, Hon. Ekpe Ogbu and other kidnap incidents reported in the area”

The police spokesperson also disclosed that David Ejembi, Aondongu Akighir AKA “Too Proud” and Teryima Peter were also arrested on their way to purchase guns for the group.

Anene said, “Further investigation also led to the arrest of nine other gang members where two locally made Beretta pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered from them adding that the suspect confessed to the crime”.

She quoted the CP as urging Benue people to provide useful information to the police to enable them to fish out hoodlums within their communities.
