Kebbi Plans Forest Reserve For Medicinal Plants

Plans are underway by the Kebbi State government to establish a forest reserve for the cultivation and preservation of medicinal plants in the state.

Governor Nasir Idris announced this when he received the leadership and members of the coalition of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners ( NANTMP) of the state chapter at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

Idris directed the Ministry of Environment and other relevant agencies to identify a suitable place in Kalgo local government area to establish the forest reserve for the preservation of medicinal plants.
According to the governor, this is aimed at preserving traditional medicine in order to prevent the disappearance of indigenous medicinal plants and herbs in the state.

The governor added that government would soon organise a workshop for members of the association to enhance their skills and knowledge in the traditional medicine.

He donated two buses to the association to boost their activities across the state.
Chairman of NANTMP, Alhaji Rilwanu Wasagu thanked governor Nasir Idris for recognising their services and assured their support to APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
