Beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina was allegedly physically attacked by protesters in South Africa after leaving the Cape Town Regional Court, where she appeared in connection with her ongoing immigration case.

Videos circulating on social media appeared to show a confrontation involving Adetshina and protesters outside the court premises following the proceedings.

The beauty queen was reportedly surrounded by a group of people as she made her way out of the court, with the situation escalating into a physical confrontation.

The alleged attack comes amid renewed tensions surrounding Adetshina’s immigration status and her controversial history with South Africa’s beauty pageant industry.

Earlier, protesters had gathered outside the court chanting “Chidimma, go home” and displaying placards demanding that she leave the country.

Some protesters also accused her of being an illegal immigrant and questioned her decision to represent Nigeria after withdrawing from the 2024 Miss South Africa competition.

Adetshina, who was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a mother of Mozambican descent, faced intense backlash during her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant.

She eventually withdrew from the competition before representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she won.

Her latest legal battle centres on her immigration status in South Africa. She was arrested in June 2026 after authorities alleged that she entered the country through the Lebombo border from Mozambique despite previously being declared a prohibited person.

Adetshina is challenging the government’s attempt to detain her pending possible deportation.

The alleged physical confrontation outside court has added another dramatic chapter to a case that has continued to attract widespread attention in both South Africa and Nigeria.
