Norris Takes Spanish Grand Prix Pole By 0.011 Seconds

Lando Norris secured pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday, beating Mercedes’ world championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 0.011 seconds in a dramatic end to qualifying.

Norris’ late lap for McLaren denied Antonelli, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen qualified third, 0.140 seconds off the pace.

Lewis Hamilton had held the provisional top spot after the first runs in the final session, but the Ferrari driver was pushed back to fourth. His teammate Charles Leclerc was fifth, ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

Norris’ pole came after an uneven session. He was fifth in Q1, seventh in Q2, and 0.449 seconds slower than Hamilton after the first runs in Q3 before finding pace on his final lap.

Afterward, Norris described the lap as “gorgeous” and said it might have been his best.
