As organisations across the globe observe World Cleanup Day, JMG Limited, has called for a broader approach to environmental conservation and waste management for a healthy and habitable society.
The company’s position comes as this year’s World Cleanup Day, with the theme, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities,” draws attention to food waste, responsible consumption, circular economy and sustainable urban waste management.
For JMG, the message aligns directly with its sustainability approach, which combines community action with cleaner, more efficient energy solutions.
The company demonstrated the community side of this commitment last year when its leadership and employees joined residents in Gbagada, Lagos, for a clean-up exercise that focused on removing waste, encouraging proper waste separation and promoting shared responsibility for the environment.
But JMG’s environmental responsibility doesn’t end with physically removing waste.
Through its renewable energy solutions, the company is also helping organisations adopt cleaner and more reliable alternatives to conventional power. One such intervention is its solar hybrid power installation at the Agboyi-Ketu Primary Health Care Centre in Lagos, providing reliable electricity for critical services including emergency care, maternity services, immunisation and diagnostics.
According to JMG, such intervention shows that businesses can also achieve environmental sustainability through the choices they make about how they generate and consume energy.
Speaking on the company’s approach to environmental sustainability, Rabi Jammal, Chief Commercial Officer, JMG Limited, said: “At JMG, our approach to sustainability is deeply human-centred, with a responsibility to apply innovation and technology.”
He added that the company’s commitment to sustainability reflects its broader effort to use technology and innovation to improve lives, support communities and protect the environment.
As World Cleanup Day is marked globally, JMG is encouraging businesses, communities and individuals to look beyond the visible signs of environmental pollution and consider the habits and systems that create them.
JMG adds value to consumers with unparalleled services delivered by professionals in mechanical, electrical/electronic, computer, and chemical engineering through its offerings spanning power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems, and air compressors.
Through its solar and hybrid energy offerings, it remains committed to driving sustainable development, empowering communities, and supporting Nigeria’s industrial growth.
Just recently the Sahara Group released its Sustainability Report, reaffirming its commitment to responsible energy development and sustainable business practices across its global operations.
The report, themed “Sustainability Beyond XXX: Responsible Growth, Enduring Impact”, sets out how Sahara integrates environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance discipline across its upstream, midstream, downstream, power, energy trading, and oilfield services businesses.
Commenting on the report, Ejiro Gray, Director, Governance & Sustainability at Sahara Group, said the publication reflects a Group wide sustainability approach across the full energy value chain. “Our sustainability journey runs across all our businesses, from upstream operations and oilfield services to power generation and energy trading. By embedding environmental responsibility, social impact and strong governance into how we operate, we are strengthening the foundation for long term value creation,” she said.
The Sustainability Report highlights measurable progress across environmental protection, safety, and social impact.
These include the avoidance of over 600,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions through recycling initiatives, the recovery of significant volumes of recyclable materials through circular economy programmes, and the maintenance of a zero lost time injury record across several businesses, supported by more than four million man hours worked safely across operations.
