The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to be in disagreement over the existence of Rainbow Coalition, a group of political parties focused on the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The ADC governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Gabriel Pidomson, had during a live radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt, insisted that the Rainbow Coalition is a “rainbow confusionā
Pidomson stated that the coalition was made up politicians who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and loyalists of the minister of the Capita Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
“I have not seen any Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, the only thing I have seen in Rivers State is rainbow confusion. We talk of the so-called rainbow confusion, it is a simple matter.
“Check out the governorship candidates of the APC, which of them were members of another party that is not PDP, or part of former Governor Nyesom Wike’s political family.
“So, when they say this coalition, it is still the same structure and part of the APC structure that remained. Now, in the ADC, we have the PDP members that refused to join them and APC members who have refused to join that family. If we are talking about coalition, ADC is the real coalition,” he said
Meanwhile, APC spokesman in the state , Hon. Chibike Ikenga, said all the movers and shakers of politics in Rivers State have identified with the Rainbow Coalition.
He said, āI feel that Hon. Gabriel Pidomson, himself is more confused because he cannot see that all the movers and shakers of politics in Rivers State have identified with the Rainbow Coalition and he said we are confused.
“He is also confused because he doesn’t have what it takes to lead Rivers State; he is a bigot and an ethnic-based politician. He cannot to begin to arrogate to himself the ability to win election in Rivers State.
“ADC as a party is nearly non-existent in Rivers State, reason being that they had very limited number of persons and they are threatened, most importantly by the crowd and the mobilisation the Rainbow Coalition is doing.
“Rainbow Coalition has reunited all former opposition groups into one coalition that will eventually win all the elections through all the candidates they sponsored. So, we understand Gabriel Pidomson,” Ikenga said.
