Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has vowed that the successes recorded in Kano when he was the governor can be replicated in Nigeria, if elected as president in 2023.

He stated this in Abuja on Monday, during the second presidential town hall meeting with the theme, “Midwifing a Nigeria,” organised by the department of political science of the University of Abuja.

He lamented that Nigeria is facing a serious crisis in the education sector, from primary to tertiary education levels, noting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have failed Nigerians.

The former Kano State governor said Nigeria is facing many issues hence the need to place people of high caliber, people of integrity and people who will change the fortune of this country for the better.

“I’m very happy that Nigerians have gotten an alternative to the failure of All Progressive Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he stated.

He said the issue of education is very critical, saying that under his administration once one passes the JAMB he can make use of it for four years to ensure all are given the same opportunity to go to the university.

According to him, “The system as it stands is if you don’t get admission, next year you have to sit for JAMB again and pay all the necessary fees.

“In our manifesto, we said once you pass JAMB, it will stay for four year. You don’t need to go and sit for that examination again because we believe the government must take responsibility to ensure that sons and daughters of the poor are all given equal opportunities to go to university.

“So, our own belief is education, education and education.”

The vice chancellor of University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah enjoined all the presidential candidates to come and speak to Nigerians why they want to rule the country.

He lamented that despite the abundance of mineral resources in Nigeria, the country is still battling with issues such as irregular electricity, poor healthcare systems while roads are death traps.
