Access Women Network (AWN) has partnered with Evolve Charity Trust to provide essential school supplies to girls across 17 schools in 12 states in Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to supporting education and empowering young girls.
The initiative will reach students in Lagos, Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Kaduna, Kano, Imo, Kogi, Anambra, Delta, Osun and Edo States.
Through the distribution of school supplies including uniforms, sandals, books, pens and school bags, the partnership seeks to help students participate more confidently in their education while reducing some of the financial pressures parents face in providing essential learning materials.
Speaking on the initiative, executive director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Access Bank Plc, Iyabo Soji-Okusanya said every girl deserves the resources and support she needs to learn, grow and fulfil her potential.
“Access Women Network is committed to promoting women’s empowerment, supporting girls’ education and creating opportunities for young people to reach their full potential. Through initiatives that address barriers to education and community development, the Network seeks to empower the next generation with the resources, confidence and support they need to thrive,” she said.
Soji-Okusanya added that by partnering with organizations such as Evolve Charity Trust, the Network is helping to make essential learning materials more accessible, ease the financial burden on parents and foster a more supportive learning environment.
Project director of Evolve Charity Trust, Godwin Ejeh said supporting girl child education is the vision of the NGO.
“The school supplies provided are uniforms, sandals, books, pen and school bag. This initiative will help boost the confidence of the girls and support their families as it takes away the burden from their parents. When you train a girl, you train a nation and Evolve is excited to partner with Access Women Network to create an enabling environment for girls to access education and build a better future,” Ejeh said.
The partners noted that access to basic school supplies is critical to creating a supportive learning environment, particularly for children from families facing financial constraints, and investing in girls’ education remains an important step towards building stronger communities.
