The Kaduna State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Evangelist Mordecai Sunday Ibrahim, has declined to comment on the omission of former Senator Danjuma Laah from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list of governorship candidates for the 2027 election.
When contacted by LEADERSHIP for his reaction, Ibrahim said he could not comment on the development.
Laah was earlier adopted as the NDC’s preferred governorship candidate by the Kaduna State Executive Committee (SEC) and local government chairmen. However, his name was not included in INEC’s final list of candidates for the state governorship election.
The omission has raised questions about the status of the party’s governorship ticket and the circumstances surrounding the nomination process.
The party had earlier been embroiled in a dispute over its governorship ticket, with former Senator Danjuma Laah and Barrister Mohammed Sani Abbas laying claim to the nomination.
Laah represented Kaduna South Senatorial District in the National Assembly before seeking the governorship ticket of the NDC ahead of the 2027 election.
However, Ibrahim’s decision not to comment leaves the party’s position on Laah’s omission from INEC’s final list unclear.
