Christian stakeholders in Kaduna State have pledged to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections, while demanding inclusive governance and fairness in the distribution of democratic dividends.
The resolution was reached at a meeting convened by the Tinubu-Uba Sani Support Organisation (TUSO) in Ikara, Kaduna State.
In a communique signed by the TUSO Convener and Executive Chairman of Kachia Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Manzo Daniel Maigari, and the organisation’s Director-General, Hon. Matthew Kaku, said their decision was based on their assessment of the administrations’ performance and the need to sustain their achievements.
The stakeholders also cited Governor Sani’s nomination of a Christian deputy governorship candidate, the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences (FUAS), Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Kafanchan, among the reasons for their support.
It resolved to mobilise Christians across the 19 northern states, particularly in the North-West, to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer and Kaduna State governorship candidate in the 2027 elections.
The communique also disclosed plans to establish a national body for Christians across the 19 northern states to promote their common interests, encourage effective political participation and advance inclusive political outcomes.
It called on Christian political leaders to work in harmony and avoid allowing personal interests and internal disagreements to undermine their collective objectives.
The communique further resolved to strengthen cooperation between Christians in southern and northern Kaduna to ensure that both groups are carried along in pursuing their shared interests.
They said their support for the two leaders should be reciprocated through inclusive governance, fairness in the distribution of democratic dividends and the fulfilment of the aspirations of Christian communities.
The stakeholders also pledged to hold both leaders accountable for meeting these expectations.
The meeting was attended by leaders of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), including chairmen from nine local government areas in northern Kaduna, with Giwa LGA included.
Other participants included representatives of the Southern Kaduna Leadership Elders’ Council (SKLC), chairmen of 63 Community Development Associations, the Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the governor’s political counsellor and the outgoing President of Hausa Christians, Professor Dauda Ishaya.
