Hon. Ambassador Dr Jim Chimezie Okolo is leading a Nigerian military delegation at the International Shooting Para Sport Competitions for Military Veterans in Ulan-Ude, Russia.
Nigeria is one of just six countries invited to compete, alongside Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Iran and Kenya. The event brings together military veterans, para-shooters, sports administrators and technical officials for competition and international exchange.
Okolo is leading the delegation with Coach Christian Agoawuike. He said Nigeria’s invitation was a great honour and a recognition of the resilience and ability of its military athletes.
The team’s participation also reflects Nigeria’s efforts to develop sport for military veterans and athletes with disabilities, while promoting inclusion, rehabilitation and cooperation between nations.
Okolo is the newly appointed Chief Coordinator of the All Federal Capital Territory Sports Association and Vice-President of the Nigeria Para Volleyball Federation. Agoawuike has helped coordinate the athletes and prepare Team Nigeria for the championship.
The Nigerian contingent will aim to deliver strong performances and showcase the determination of the country’s military athletes as the competition continues.
