The Tinubu Must Stay Movement has appointed Marcel Ngogbehei, a former organiser of the Obidient Movement, as Director-General of its alliance with the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration (DMI) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement announced the appointment in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 14, saying Ngogbehei would oversee organisational coordination, grassroots engagement and civic-accountability activities.

Ngogbehei was involved in the mobilisation surrounding Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign. He served as Director of Strategy of the Peter Obi Support Network and later as chairman of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO).

He subsequently became Director-General of DMI, an organisation focused on grassroots coordination, citizen participation and organisational development.

According to the statement, DMI formalised an alliance with the Tinubu Must Stay Movement in September 2026, marking a shift in its political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, chairman of the movement’s Board of Trustees and convener, said Ngogbehei’s appointment was based on their longstanding professional relationship and his experience in technology, public institutions and community development.

Abdullahi said they had worked together at Galaxy Backbone Plc and the Central Bank of Nigeria, where they contributed to technology initiatives, including the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), the Government Data Center and the CBN Cashless Policy.

He also credited Ngogbehei with contributing to the establishment of the bank’s Enterprise Architecture function, which he said generated savings of more than $1 million.

Ngogbehei studied Computer and Electronics Engineering at Lagos State University and attended the London Business School Sloan programme. His professional experience also includes technology projects for the UK Civil Service, according to the statement.

Outside his professional career, he founded GiveBack2Humanity, an initiative focused on youth mentorship and community development, and established the Marcel Ngogbehei Center for Cancer Education and Care.

The movement also used the announcement to question the readiness of opposition parties to govern, calling on them to provide detailed policy alternatives to the Federal Government’s approach to economic and social challenges.

It said opposition parties should explain how they would create jobs, reduce the cost of living, improve electricity supply and strengthen public services, including education and healthcare.

However, the movement said the Tinubu administration should also be assessed on its performance and the results of its policies.

“President Tinubu must be judged [by] the complexity of the problem he inherited and by what his government delivers. The opposition must also be judged by the solutions it offers. Nigerians deserve answers from both sides,” the statement said.

As Director-General, Ngogbehei is expected to coordinate the alliance’s activities, including public discussions on government performance, reviews of alternative policy proposals and engagement with communities across the country.

The appointment comes as political groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
