Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed as fake a social media report claiming that he endorsed the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Ishaku Abbo.
Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said he had no relationship with the Labour Party or any of its candidates in the state.
A statement circulating on social media had quoted the minister as urging Adamawa voters to make informed decisions at the ballot, while purportedly describing Abbo as the best candidate to lead the state.
But Wike, in a statement issued through Olayinka, denied making the comments, stressing that he had neither endorsed Abbo nor any candidate of the Labour Party.
The minister urged members of the public, particularly voters in Adamawa State, to disregard the report, describing it as a fabrication.
He said anyone he chose to support would hear it directly from him, rather than through social media reports.
“Whoever I am supporting, I will use my own mouth to say it,” Wike said.
