The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued an 18-year-old woman from an angry mob after she allegedly stabbed her 30-year-old husband during a dispute over money and personal belongings in Dass Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on October 25, 2026, at Lirr Bajar in Dass, following an argument over money, wrappers and a mobile phone allegedly in the husband’s possession.
The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, identifying the suspect as Fatima Dalha.
According to the statement, the disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, during which Dalha allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach.
Residents reportedly gathered at the scene and threatened to lynch the woman before police operatives attached to the Dass Divisional Police Headquarters arrived and rescued her.
Habib said the injured husband was taken to a hospital for treatment, while the suspect was arrested and the knife allegedly used in the attack recovered.
He added that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over domestic violence among young couples and urged them to settle disputes through dialogue, family intervention and other lawful means.
“A moment of anger can destroy two lives forever,” the commissioner warned.
He also cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the command remained committed to ensuring justice was served professionally and humanely.
