Paris Saint-Germain have been named Men’s Club of the Year, while Barcelona claimed the Women’s Club of the Year award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
PSG beat Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bodo/Glimt and Flamengo to win the men’s award, becoming the first major award winner from outside Spain at the ceremony.
Former Arsenal players Sol Campbell and Patrick Vieira presented the award to the French club in recognition of its achievements.
Barcelona, meanwhile, were crowned Women’s Club of the Year following a successful season in which they secured a quadruple.
The award was presented by Campbell and Vieira, members of Arsenal’s famous unbeaten 2003/04 Premier League team, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta collecting the honour on behalf of the club.
The victory marked Barcelona’s fifth award of the night and extended Spain’s dominance at the ceremony, with Spanish winners claiming the first seven awards presented.
The honours recognise the achievements of clubs in men’s and women’s football over the assessment period.
