The family and followers of the slain Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, have announced Friday, October 30, 2026, for his burial rites, following his killing by suspected gunmen in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The announcement was made by his deputy, Abdulrasheed Abdulkarim, who disclosed that a special prayer session would be held at the Emir’s Palace in Katsina before the final burial rites.

He explained that other activities in honour of the late Islamic scholar would continue on Saturday, October 31, urging family members, followers, well-wishers and members of the public wishing to pay their last respects to attend.

Meanwhile, a prominent Islamic scholar, Malam Yahaha Adam Bani, who said he had taught Sheikh Masussuka for several years, described the deceased as an exceptional religious teacher whose contributions to Islamic scholarship would remain relevant for generations.

Speaking on the cleric’s death, Bani urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith and submit all matters to Almighty Allah, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the killing.

He said although those responsible for Masussuka’s death might be rejoicing over their actions, they could not erase the knowledge, teachings and religious contributions he had left behind.

According to him, the late scholar’s teachings would continue to spread across the world for hundreds of years, predicting that his religious legacy could remain relevant for between 100 and 500 years and even beyond.

He maintained that Masussuka had made remarkable contributions to correcting what he considered misconceptions and questionable practices in Islamic teachings.

Bani further claimed that some of the religious issues raised by the deceased had remained unchallenged by Islamic scholars and imams across the world.

He likened Masussuka’s contributions to those of renowned Islamic scholars whose writings and teachings continued to influence generations long after their deaths.

“Just as other Islamic scholars wrote books and left behind knowledge that people continue to benefit from, Sheikh Masussuka has also left his mark on the world,” he said.

He expressed confidence that Muslims would continue to study and benefit from the late cleric’s teachings for centuries, stressing that his death would not bring an end to the religious principles he propagated.

The scholar called on followers of the deceased to preserve his teachings and remain committed to peaceful religious propagation rather than allowing his killing to provoke hostility.

Sheikh Masussuka was killed on Monday, October 26, when gunmen reportedly attacked him near his residence in Dutsin-Ma, an incident that has continued to generate reactions from religious leaders, government officials and members of the public.
