Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) has received donations of medicines and exercise books from a New York, United States (US)-based humanitarian group, Open Arms Amazing Charitable Organisation Inc., to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and promote access to education in the state.

The items were presented to the executive secretary of TSEMA, Dr Echuseh Audu, by Enoch Reuben, who represented the organisation’s chief executive officer, Dr Magdalene Agada.

During the presentation, Reuben said the donation was motivated by the organisation’s recognition of TSEMA’s transparency and commitment to humanitarian interventions for displaced persons across the state.

He said the organisation was committed to supporting the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas, particularly in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations and improving their welfare.

“Our organisation and CEO have seen the transparency and excellence in the humanitarian drive of TSEMA with internally displaced persons,” Reuben said.

Receiving the items, Dr. Echuseh Audu expressed appreciation to Agada and the organisation for their continued support, and assured that the donated materials would be put to judicious use.

She said, the medicines would help address the healthcare needs of vulnerable residents, while the exercise books would support the state government’s free education policy.

The TSEMA ES noted that, the organisation had consistently supported the agency’s humanitarian efforts, and described it as a dependable partner in providing assistance to displaced persons and other vulnerable groups.

She also conveyed the agency’s appreciation to the organisation on behalf of residents in various IDPs camps across Taraba State.

Dr. Echuseh called on other humanitarian organisations, philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to emulate Open Arms Amazing Charitable Organization Inc. by partnering with the state government and TSEMA to address the challenges confronting displaced persons, particularly in healthcare and education.
