The Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Kebbi State has backed its national leadership rejection of the proposed N70,000 transport allowance for Nigerian workers initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cushion the effects of transport hike on the civil servants.
The TUC state chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Shehu, told LEADERSHIP yesterday that the branch did not taken any stand on weather to accept or reject the allowances until the mother union indicated its rejection.
Shehu, however, noted that his branch would soon hold meetings with the members and later meet with the state government before taking its stand on the allowances. “Though, there was a little difference in agreement over the allowances between the NLC and TUC, at the end both unions would be on the same page or line ” Shehu said.
He called on TUC members in the state to remain calm as the leadership of NLC and TUC at state and national levels are making efforts to reach an agreement.
