The Institute of Capital Market Registrars (ICMR) said its annual conference will examine how Nigerian financial institutions can move beyond recapitalisation to build resilience and sustain long-term capital market growth.
The 15th edition of the conference, themed ‘Beyond Recapitalisation: Building Resilient Institutions and a Sustainable Capital Market’, will bring together regulators, market operators and industry leaders to assess governance reforms, institutional capacity and investor confidence in the wake of the ongoing recapitalisation exercise.
The event will also feature the investiture of Fellows and induction of new members, reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to professional excellence, ethical standards and capacity building in the capital market.
The keynote address will be delivered by the chief executive officer of Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr Bismarck Rewane, who is expected to provide insights into strengthening institutional resilience and promoting sustainable market growth.
According to a statement signed by the president and chairman of Council, Mrs Catherine Nwosu, the conference will provide a platform for networking, knowledge exchange and strategic collaboration among stakeholders.
“It will also highlight the critical role of registrars in strengthening investor confidence, promoting market integrity and advancing a more resilient and sustainable Nigerian capital market.”
It noted that “there will be a panel discussion on ‘Recapitalisation as a Catalyst for Institutional Resilience & Governance Reforms for Sustainable Growth’.
“Panelists include the chief executive officer of Central Securities Clearing System Plc, Mr Shehu Yahaya Shantali; the first vice president of ICMR, Dr Kamal Okunola; the president/chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Dr Fiona Ahimie; and the chief executive officer of Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), Mr Jude Chiemeke.”
