Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared that “vagabonds” have no place in Sokoto, urging residents to support former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and other candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Tambuwal made the remarks on Wednesday at the opening campaign of the ADC in Sokoto, where he described the state as a place of faith, scholarship and leadership.
“We say Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. Today is all about campaign; it’s about making a statement,” he said.
He added, “Sokoto people have made a statement today, that this place is a place of faith, it is a place of scholarship and leadership, and vagabonds have no place in Sokoto and they have no business in winning power in Sokoto, In Shaa Allah.”
The former governor also called on residents to support all ADC candidates, particularly Atiku, whom he said would restore the fuel subsidy.
“Sokoto people have made up their mind to support all the candidates in ADC, am I right or wrong? Support Atiku Abubakar so that subsidy can be restored,” Tambuwal said.
He criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying Nigerians had seen the consequences of its policies.
Tambuwal also questioned President Bola Tinubu’s performance on electricity, recalling his campaign promise to improve power supply.
“When Bola Tinubu was campaigning, he campaigned that he was going to supply electricity to Nigerians. Has he been able to do that?” he asked.
The crowd responded, “No,” as Tambuwal used the exchange to challenge the APC’s record in government.
