The Progressive Old Students’ Association, Tede (POSAT), is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Progressive Secondary Grammar School, Tede’s founding in November 2026.
The Interim National President of the association, Dr Funso Folaranmi, and its Interim National Secretary, Tajudeen Alabede, said the anniversary would celebrate five decades of academic excellence and sustainable impact.
POSAT is set to bring together alumni of both Progressive Modern School, Tede, established in 1959, and Progressive Secondary Grammar School, Tede, which was upgraded to secondary school status in 1976.
Originally established by the government of the old Oyo State on 22 November 1976, the grammar school will officially mark its 50th anniversary on 22 November 2026.
The association said the milestone celebration was designed to honour the school’s enduring place in the lives of its alumni and recognise its contributions to education and community development.
“To commemorate this milestone and honour the school’s enduring place in the lives of its alumni, the association is organising a series of events,” the statement said.
The activities will feature the first-ever Global Alumni Reunion, the 67th anniversary of the school’s original founding and the golden jubilee of its upgrade to secondary school status.
The line-up of activities for the anniversary celebration includes special thanksgiving services, Community Engagement Day, Homecoming and School Community Day, Global Alumni Reunion Day and the grand finale.
The grand finale, scheduled for Saturday, 28 November 2026, will bring together prominent political, business and civic leaders, as well as other stakeholders in the school community.
Other activities will include the unveiling of the Strategic School Development Initiative, the official launch of the N1.5 billion Development Fund and the presentation of Legacy Awards to pioneers who laid the foundation for the school’s development.
