The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Traditional Rulers Council Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has advised farmers and herdsmen to co-exist peacefully to boost food production in the country.

He made the appeal during the annual cultural festival organised by some Fulani associations in Niger State at the Aliyu Ndayako Memorial Stadium, Bida, yesterday.

While saying such peaceful co-existence will help to achieve the desired economic prosperity, he reiterated that it would boost food production and national food security.

The monarch said, “it will also enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the people in particular and the economic development of the state in general.”

He said no meaningful development can take place  if the people did not learn how to live in peace with one another,  advising that  both farmers and herders must  embrace the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms to settle misunderstandings when they occur, rather than resort to violence.

The traditional ruler also advised the people to always promote peaceful coexistence and to as well obey constituted authorities.
