Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi has denied social media reports that the hospital is not accepting patients without cash.

In a statement issued by head of media unit of the hospital Usman Abdullahi Koli, and made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, described the story as rumours, fake and baseless, as the hospital still considers patients with cash.

“Members of the public are advised to disregard the rumours, while the hospital continues to accord priority to patients.”

According to Koli, ATBUTH has embraced the federal government’s cashless policy introduced through the Central Bank, in order to make transactions easy to patients and their relatives.

He said the hospital introduced a new method to ease the process of payments by patients on admission and those that will come for health care services.

“The management agrees to collect all kinds of e-payment across the hospital in all collation centers, and a printout Remita will be given to the client for validation of payment.”

He said, Point of Sale (PoS) operators are also available at some payment points for transfer and transaction of the naira notes, while charges for the PoS are being coordinated by the management.

He also stated that the hospital has improved its network capacity for the utilization of internet banking as well as to save time with improved accessibility.

He advised the general public to comply with the new policy and give maximum cooperation while at the hospital.
