This year long journey was recently concluded on January 30th 2023, when the Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan received the International Organisation for Standardisation(ISO), 9001:2015 QMS certificate at an event in Abuja.

This is part of the foundation’s multi-billion Naira commitment to improve the performance of the Nigerian public sector.

Speaking at the event, the head of the Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, thanked the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation for its continuous support of the reform initiatives of the civil service.

She urged all civil servants to continue to strive to deliver quality service as the certification is not an end in itself but a means to achieve continuous service quality improvement.

Speaking on behalf of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation,  senior advisor to the  Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation on Digitalisation, Mr. Pattison Boleigha, noted that, the ISO certification of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation was only the beginning of a journey of continual process and service improvement in the civil service that his Foundation was committed to supporting.

He urged all permanent secretaries present to commence the ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification process of their various ministries in order to improve the quality of services offered to Nigerians.

The funding and technical assistance provided by the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation for the ISO certification process is part of its long standing partnership with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to support public sector reforms in Nigeria.

Other projects currently being undertaken with the Civil Service include; the digitalisation of its processes, the introduction of performance management systems, and a culture change campaign, which seeks to inculcate positive values in civil servants.

Meanwhile, the foundation is inviting applications for the 2023 class of its AIG Public Leaders Programme, offered in partnership with the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.

The Public Leaders programme is designed to equip senior public sector leaders with the skills and tools they need to be effective in their roles and  to tackle the problems presented by today’s complex and fast changing world.

Speaking about the programme, the executive vice-chair of the foundation, Mrs. Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede said: “we believe that an efficient public sector is essential for national development and so we are committed to building the capacity of the public sector workforce to drive sustainable change for the benefit of the people.

“We are pleased to announce the third class of this programme and are very proud of the positive impact previous programme participants are having across their various organisations..”

The Dean of the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, Professor Ngaire Woods said: “we are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation by bringing our Public Leaders Programme to Nigeria for a third time.”

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation will award scholarships to eligible African public servants who are successful in the application process.

Applicants are required to be working in the public sector in Africa, with a minimum of seven years of active service, be at grade levels 12-17, and be aged between 35-50 years old at the time of application.
