Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) yesterday decorated the newly promoted 53 senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), with their next rank.
The newly elevated officers comprises of eight assistant commandant-general of the corps (ACGs) and 45 commandants.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony event which took place at the Corps national headquarters in Abuja, the commandant-general, Dr Ahmed Audi explained that the promotion was based on merit .
Audi, who encouraged those who were not promoted not to relent but keep working hard, said many factors were considered during the promotion exercise.
He stated that the Corps under his watch streamlined its policy on promotion to consider federal character, while also ensuring strictly, that only deserving officers, who have worked assiduously and have satisfied all conditions were picked for elevation.
He said, “Promotion at this level is very sensitive. To earn it, you must demonstrate the highest level of loyalty. This this loyalty must be 100 per cent.”
The NSCDC boss charged those promoted not to lobby for “Favourable” posting.
Don’t disturb yourself with too much lobbying, don’t abandon your job and start following the other one.”
Audi further disclosed that the corps under his watch has upgraded a lot of officers denied promotion for several years and has paid backlog of promotion arrears to boost their moral. This is even as he reminded them that they are closer to the exit door, hence, the urgent need for them to begin planning for their retirement .
On her part, secretary of CDIPB, Aisha Rufai, said the process of the promotion exercise was thorough and transparent.
The corps’ director of public relations, Olusola Odumosu who was also elevated to the rank of a commandant, expressed excitement over the promotion, saying his hard work and the support his office enjoyed from the various media outfits had paid off.
