The late student of Chrisland School, Whitney Omodesola Adeniran, was buried on Thursday in Lagos amidst tears.

The 12-year old student was said to have slumped and died in controversial circumstances during the school inter-house sports competition held at Agege Stadium, February 9.

This called for an autopsy to determine the cause of her death even as her parents and the school management were in disagreement.

The mother of the late student, Mrs Blessing Adeniran, made a video post on Wednesday night, disclosing the result of the autopsy which revealed that her daughter was electrocuted.

Whitney’s father, Michael Adeniran had claimed that his daughter “died from naked wire from one cotton candy vendor machine after she touched it and she was electrocuted immediately she leaned on it.”

But a statement released by the school claimed Whitney died in “public view and not under any hidden circumstances,” adding that she was rushed to the nearest medical facility for first aid.

Mrs Adeniran said her daughter was cut open in order to get the results. She said Whitney was menstruating before her death and her menstrual blood was also taken for tests.

In the emotional video, she called out the management of Chrisland Group of Schools for making her family go through the trauma due to the autopsy, when they could have just told them how their child died. She also said all those who “insulted, bullied and humiliated” her with the narrative that her daughter was sick prior to her death, will be judged by God.

Whitney, who is her first child, was buried yesterday (Thursday) as the picture and video surfaced on the internet showing the mother weeping and being comforted by her husband and family as the daughter’s casket was in a vehicle enroute her interment.

Blessing Adeniran who is into baby and maternity wear, later posted on her business instagram handle, @bam.babycity and wrote, “Today I buried my child… worst day of my life”.
