Consolidation for New Rivers Vision Campaign Council has expressed the hope that the achievements of the administration of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike will give victory to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Siminalaye Fubara at the March 11 elections in the state.

The spokesperson of the campaign council, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, disclosed this yesterday to LEADERSHIP in an interview in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Nwuke said, “Accordingly, Sim Fubara will win on March 11 and there is no doubt about that. We know that he is the candidate to beat, we know that everybody involved in the governorship thinks chasing aside Fubara will give them the opportunity to win.

“This election is about deeds; it is about candidates that have been thrown up. In terms of deeds, the PDP has done well in Rivers and that will stand for it on election day.

“The candidate that PDP has, Siminalaye Fubara is a mainstream administrator who understands what it is to be a technocrat and what it means to be a bureaucrat.

“He is far more experienced that those coming against him in governmental matters. Yes, we have a good candidate, we have a good party platform and we have done well as a party.”

The spokesman stated that the outcome of the National Assembly election in the state have proven that the PDP is the party of Rivers people while it’s candidates are candidates of the state.

He said, “The dynamics of the February 25 and March 11 elections are different. Of course, in the presidential election, there were wide choices to make and clearly, if you are looking at the dynamics of that election, you will find out that there was one thread running through.

“You will find out that the Nigerian nation wanted a Southern president. You see it also play in the South where two of the leading candidates come from. So, the dynamics of that election is different.

“If you are looking at that election too, there was a National Assembly election and the National Assembly election has shown that candidates of the PDP were the candidates of the people.

“So, if you are looking at that, you will find out clearly that still, PDP remains the party of the people and candidates of the PDP are candidates of Rivers people,” Nwuke said.
