A former federal lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has taunted the Nigeria’s Secret Police agency likening its claim on interim government plot by people it called ‘misguided politicians’, to the practice of herbalism.

A herbalist is known as Babalawo in Yoruba language, Boka in Hausa language and Dibia in Igbo language.

Shehu Sani said practitioners of herbalism will always tell people who seek their help or protection that there are evil plot against them but they will not reveal the names of the plotters or proofs of the plot.

The former lawmaker took to his verified Twitter handle on Thursday to further react to the Wednesday’s revelation by the Department of State Service (DSS) thereby adding a comical relief to the matter already generating tension and apprehension in the country ahead of May 29 handover date to President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

He wrote: “Nigeria is in a Babalawo or Juju man situation room, where you will be told that some people are plotting evil against you, but he will not tell you their names or provide proofs of their plots.”

This is even as Kaduna Politician earlier condemned the interim government plot via a Twitter post on Wednesday when he wrote: “Interim National Government is nonsensical.”

LEADERSHIP reports that DSS had on Wednesday evening confirmed and identified some key players in the plot for an interim government in Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure on May 29.

The DSS said the illegality was totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace-loving Nigerians.

The spokesperson of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya, said the Service considered the plot, being pursued by the entrenched interests, as not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis.

He said: “This is even more so that the machination is taking place after the peaceful conduct of the elections in most parts of the country.

“The planners, in their many meetings, have weighed various options, which include, among others, to sponsor endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency.”

He further stated that, “another (plot) is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the federal and state levels.”

While warning those involved to stop with the plans, Dr Afunanya added: “the DSS supports the president and commander-in-chief in his avowed commitment to a hitch-free handover and will assiduously work in this direction.

“It also supports the presidential transition council and such other related bodies in the states.

“It will collaborate with them and sister security and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless inaugurations come 29th May, 2023.

“Consequently, the Service strongly warns those organising to thwart democracy in the country to retract from their devious schemes and orchestrations.

“Stakeholders, notably judicial authorities, media and the civil society, are enjoined to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert peace and stability of the nation.

“While its monitoring continues, the DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their obnoxious intentions.”
