Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday said it will on April 15, 2023, hold elections in five state house of assembly constituencies and one federal constituency in Ebonyi State.

The state resident electoral commissioner (REC), Mrs. Pauline Onyeka, made the disclosure in Abakaliki, the state capital yesterday during the presentation of certificates of return to the governor-elect, Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, his running mate, Mr. Patricia Obila and 17 house of assembly members elect.

Onyeka said only 17 constituencies have their results announced and elections concluded out of the 24 seats in the assembly adding that five constituencies had inconclusive results while two constituencies had issues which the commission is resolving.

“Only 17 members elected will receive their certificate out of 24 due to inconclusiveness. Two have issues to be corrected while elections were declared inconclusive in five state constituencies,” Onyeka said.

She said the election for Ezza North/Ishielu federal constituency was also declared inconclusive.

The certificates of return were presented to the beneficiaries by the INEC national commissioner in charge of Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States, Mr  Kenneth Ukeagu.
