The Managing Director, Rural Electrification Agency (REA) said the agency will energise eight additional Federal Universities and one affiliated Teaching Hospital with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB).
He made this known on Thursday at the REA’s Energizing Education Programme (EEP) Phase III pre-bid conference.
He stated that education and health are arguably the most important sectors driving socio-economic development and as such the Federal Ministry of Power, through the REA resolved to embark on viable projects that will ensure the availability of clean, reliable, sustainable and affordable power to Nigeria’s Federal Universities and Hospitals.
In addition, the phase will equally enable REA to train 160 more female students through STEM.
The EEP III is expected to deliver an additional 36.5MW of renewable energy, powering about 150,000+ students. It will equally help to cut about 254.07 kilotonnes of C02.
Now entering its third phase, Energizing Education is a power intervention program of the Nigerian government being implemented by the REA to deliver clean and reliable electricity to Federal Universities and Hospitals across the country.
