There are indications that the Lagos State commissioner for physical planning and urban development, Engr. Paul Bamgbose-Martins, may not be able to honour the summons by the state legislature, because he is currently on his vacation abroad.
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly had summoned Bamgbose-Martins and the special adviser for public private partnership (PPP), Ope George, to explain their failure/refusal to carry the House along for ratification before contracts were allegedly signed.
While expressing concerns about a potential breach, Hon Nureni Akinsanya, the lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 1, during the plenary, advised that such acts should be discouraged. He added that the law should be enforced and all contracts should be put on hold for now.
The plenary resolved that the commissioner and other concerned agencies be invited for questioning.
But a source close to the commissioner hinted that he is currently not in the country and may not be aware of the allegations levelled against him by the House.
