As continental students commemorate Africa Students’ Day, the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU) has spotlighted the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s Student Loan initiative and the efforts of industrial magnate, Alhaji Aliko Dangote in promoting the education sector.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Education Fit for the 21st Century,” underscores the importance of accessible education in driving Africa’s development.

AASU President HE Osisiogu Osikenyi Enyinnaya praised the Student Loan Scheme as a pivotal step towards educational equity.

“President Tinubu’s Student Loan scheme is a game-changer for African students, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede our pursuit of knowledge,” said Enyinnaya.

The event also recognized the Dangote Group’s role in fostering educational growth, with its recent commissioning of a 650,000 barrels per day Oil Refinery serving as a testament to the potential for industrial ventures to support educational initiatives.

“Alhaji Dangote’s investments are not just fueling industries; they’re powering minds across the continent,” Enyinnaya remarked.

Enyinnaya called on detractors to cease their campaigns against progress and join in supporting efforts that bolster education and industry alike. “Let us embrace initiatives like President Tinubu’s loan scheme and Dangote’s educational contributions that are shaping an enlightened and industrious Africa,” he concluded.

The AASU clearly noted that partnerships between government policies in Africa and private sector Philanthropy of the Dangote group are key to unlocking Africa’s educational and industrial potential.

AASU also commended Pastor Chris Oyakhilome for his support for education in the continent.
