Eight public and private secondary schools in Aba will participate in the maiden edition of Aba Literary Week 1.0, an educational initiative organised by the All Saints Secondary School, Ehere ’92, Set to promote reading culture and healthy academic competition among students.

The three-day programme is scheduled to hold on February 24, 25 and 27, 2026, at Priqueen International School, Ogbor Hill, Aba.

The event will feature quiz competitions, literary reviews, and presentations centred on the novel Beaten, written by Obinna Olewe, an alumni association member.

According to the organisers, the initiative forms part of the All Saints ’92 Set’s community impact drive and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education.

The programme has received endorsements from the Office of the Commissioner for Education, Abia State; the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Education; the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly; the Mayor of Aba North Local Government Area; the Mayor of Obingwa Local Government Area; and Quiz Nigeriana, Port Harcourt, which will serve as a technical partner.

President of the All Saints ’92 Set, Chief Engr. Martin Ikechukwu Uzoegwu described the project as a strategic investment in young minds.

He said the association is committed to building a sustainable platform that encourages lifelong learning, strengthens reading culture, and positively influences the educational ecosystem within Aba and beyond.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Engr. Samuel Ogbuagu said the literary week is designed to foster collaboration among alumni, schools, government and the private sector.

According to him, the programme is intended to serve as the foundation for an annual educational empowerment framework that will continue to expand and benefit students and schools in the community.

Participating schools and students are expected to receive cash prizes, free copies of the featured novel and broader exposure to literary engagement aimed at strengthening academic excellence and creativity among secondary school learners in Aba.
