President, National Association of the Blind, Stanley Onyebuchi, has expressed delight that Abia State has talented and resourceful members of the association.
Onyebuchi noted this last weekend, while opening the 2025 Youth Conference of the association in Umuahia, the state capital, stressing the importance of the conference.
He described the theme of the conference: “Harnessing Technology to Enhance Employable Skills for Visually Impaired Youths,” as very important, timely, and carefully chosen.
The president, who commended “the unwavering support of the state governor, Alex Otti and the government for the association,” wished the members a successful deliberation.
In a remark, the secretary to the state government, Kenneth Kalu thanked the association for choosing the state for the conference and assured them of the government’s support.
He expressed optimism that the conference would promote empowerment, accessibility, employability, and independence among visually impaired youths in the state and beyond.
In their separate remarks, Maureen Aghukwa and Nwaobilor Ananaba, the commissioners for women’s affairs and sports and youth development, noted the conference’s importance.
Represented by Nwankwo Felicia and Merit Ukwa, respectively, the commissioners lauded the association for organising the conference and urged the participants to maximise the opportunity.
The national youth leader, Damilola Shodeyi, charged the participants to use the knowledge and resources offered to better their lives and communities.
