Wife of Abia State governor, Mrs Precillia Otti, has said the high rate of malaria infection in the state calls for concern and immediate action.
Speaking at the commemoration of the 2024 World Malaria Day in Umuahia, she assured that with collaborative efforts, the trend would change.

“I can assure you that by the time we commemoration next year’s edition, the state would have shed this label. We will labour tirelessly round the clock to achieve this goal.
“We will initiate the distribution of insecticide- treated mosquito nets and engage in vigorous enlightenment campaigns, especially in our rural areas.

“The theme, “Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world,” calls for renewed and vigorous commitment to the fight against malaria,” she said.
She said health centers in various local governments in the state were receiving more attention from the government, describing it as an added advantage.
