Chairman, Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Environment and Urban Renewal, Kalu Mba Nwoke, has lauded Governor Alex Otti for intervening on the failed axis of Nmuri Hills on Ohafia-Bende-Umuahia road.
Nwoke spoke to LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday in Umuahia, the state capital, following the intervention on the axis which has claimed many lives and property in accidents.
“I noticed that just as I travelled down to my constituency last weekend, palliative work has started on that portion of the road and is seriously ongoing.
“Recall that last December, I moved a motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the House where I drew the attention of the members to an accident that claimed six lives there,” he said.
The member representing Ohafia South constituency recalled how he stressed that necessary palliatives should be effected at the axis to save the situation.
“It is a thing of joy for me and my constituents to note that today work has commenced there and we’re very grateful to him for this and many other jobs he is doing,” he added.
He solicited the support of the constituency for the governor to continue the transformation work he had set in motion until he delivers all he has embarked upon.
It would be recalled that LEADERSHIP Weekend had drawn Otti’s attention to the axis in February during his monthly media chat tagged; “Gov. speaks to Abians”.
