The member representing Umunneochi constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Mathias Umeh has paid registration fees for 120 candidates from the constituency for the just concluded West African School Certificate Examination.
Umeh stated this while briefing the press in Isuochi in the constituency on his representation in the past one year.
He added that he had also established a bursary award for undergraduates in the constituency.
The House committee chairman on budget, planning, multinationals, and SDG’s explained that he had offered full year education scholarship programme to students of Peace Comprehensive College, Nkwoagu Isuochi.
According to him, aside his latest constitutioning of Umunneochi Constiuency Project Committee, he had presented bills for the establishment of the State Safety And Others Agencies, and for harmonization of vocational schools in the state among others.
He commended the state governor, Alex Otti for the prevailing security situation across the state with emphasis on the constiuency, describing it as one of the greatest achivements of his administration.
Umeh, who explained that it was himself that moved the motion that gave legal backing to the operation of the state’s security outfit, “Operation Chrush” lauded the governor for his firm resolve against insecurity in the state.
“It was I that moved the motion on insecurity in Umunneochi constiuency, calling on the state government to come to the rescue of the people. The situation now is as a result of that motion,” he noted.
The legislator expressed satisfaction that the people were now moving about with their legitimate businesses, assuring them that more democracy dividends and better days were ahead.
