The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member representing Isiala Ngwa south constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Dennis Chinwendu, and his supporters have defected to the Labour Party (LP).
Receiving them in Umuoba, Isialangwa South local government area, the state governor, Alex Otti, described the L P as an inclusive platform open to all Nigerians and committed to good governance.
“Honourable Chinwendu, we are glad to have you join our party and we thank you for bringing this multitude of people that you brought with you including leaders.
“In the Labour Party, we do not discriminate, so, if you’re joining today, you will be given the same status as those who joined a long time ago.
“I want to say that I’m happy to receive you and it is my pleasure to now call on the chairman of the party to hand-over the flag to you,” he noted.
Otti, who assured them of full Integration and equal treatment within the LP, citing his own political journey as proof of the LP’s fairness.
Speaking earlier, Chinwendu said he was attracted to the LP because of Otti’s good governance and transformation agenda which has changed the narrative of the state in less than two years.
Chinwendu, who represents Otti’s state constituency, assured him that with the crop of supporters the people are ready to respond to his good gestures in 2027.
Other speakers at the event were the former member for Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South federal constituency, Darlington Nwokocha and his successor, Ginger Onwusoibe.
One of the highlights of the event was the handing over of the ruling LP’s flag to the lawmaker and leaders of the supporters by the LP chairman of the area, Smart Ogbonna.
