Speaking on Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukukwu Onwuemelie, addressed journalists, briefing them on the command’s ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain order in the state.

Onwuemelie, represented by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, stressed the significant achievements made in curbing these crimes from October until the present.

The police chief provided details of those apprehended, comprising 58 males and two females. Additionally, the command successfully rescued an abducted child during these operations.

The recovered items listed by Onwuemelie included six locally-made single barrel shotguns, nine locally-made double-barrel shotguns, nine live cartridges, and one pump-action gun.

The command also seized 10 vehicles, eight tricycles, and a bag containing substances suspected to be illicit hard drugs. Furthermore, they recovered allegedly stolen MTN and Airtel batteries, railway sleepers, vandalized aluminum panels, armoured cables, a dry cell motor battery, a motor jack, iron cutters, and various other tools.

Onwuemelie affirmed the command’s unwavering dedication to the safety and security of law-abiding residents. The police will persist in their efforts to achieve this goal and uphold peace in the state.

Among the arrested suspects was 29-year-old Timothy Ocheche, accused of fatally harming his female companion at Chrismary Hotel, Aba, on October 4.
