Abia State is set to have an industrial policy following governance and institutional reforms under the present administration.
The commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, stated this when he briefed the media on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting, chaired by the governor, Alex Otti, in Umuahia, the state capital.
“The government believes that the time has come for an industrial policy that will drive the industrial development of the state to be put in place, as it were.
“Through its Ease of Doing Business Agency, the government has done quite well to enhance the ease of doing business environment in the state.
“In the coming weeks, when the policy is ready, we will invite the public to sit through a session where it will be launched,” he maintained
According to him, the policy is a strategic move to boost the ease of doing business and a conducive environment for its people and prospective investors.
The commissioner noted that the policy, together with a very conducive ease of doing business environment, would help to attract investors and development.
He said while it is aimed at marketing the potential, it would also strengthen its comparative advantage in various areas of resource availability and management.
