The 47th edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Championship will serve off on Friday, 12 June 2026, at the Tennis Complex, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with the tournament set to conclude on Saturday, 20 June.

The annual championship, one of the most prestigious events on Nigeria’s tennis calendar, will feature intense competition in the men’s and women’s singles and doubles categories, as well as wheelchair events for both male and female players.

For almost five decades, the CBN-sponsored tournament has played a pivotal role in the discovery and development of tennis talent across the country. It has consistently provided a platform for emerging stars to showcase their abilities and progress to the international stage, with several former participants going on to represent Nigeria at major competitions, including the Davis Cup and the All-Africa Games.

Over the years, the championship has helped shape the careers of some of Nigeria’s most accomplished players, including Sunday Maku, David Imonite, Veronica Oyibokia-Iwebema, Christy Agugbom, Sarah Adegoke, Sylvester Emmanuel, Joseph Imeh, Oyinlomo Quadri and Marylove Edwards.

As the competition returns to Abuja for its 47th edition, expectations are high for another week of top-quality tennis, with established stars and rising talents set to battle for honours.
