A sociocultural group in Osun State, Omoluabi Ethos Monitoring Group (OEMG), has said the Accord Party (AP) was afraid of the imminent defeat of its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, in the forthcoming governorship election.
The group described the suit filed by the Osun State chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP) against the APC candidate as unfortunate and advised the party to desist from being a ready tool in the hands of the ruling AP over the suit pertaining to credentials submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
OEMG, through its national coordinator, Alhaji Olawanle Aderemi, warned that those currently hiding in the Accord Party in Osun are known for using people to achieve mischievous ends and dumping them thereafter
He called on the national leadership of APP to monitor activities in the Osun chapter, noting that those in charge of the party in the state often made themselves available, running errands of shame for the ruling party.
The OEMG said the recent court case filed by the APP challenging Oyebamiji’s eligibility to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun was an indication that the Accord Party was afraid of an impending defeat.
The “APP’s reason, according to the case filed at the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, was that Oyebamiji submitted fake certificates to INEC,” the statement read.
The group, while accusing APP of public bias in favour of another party, urged the party to seek adequate information from knowledgeable people before exhibiting “crass knowledge on the street”.
