Activist and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aisha Yesufu, has apologised to Yemi Adamolekun, former Executive Director of Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE), over her wrongful inclusion in the party’s Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee without prior consent.

The controversy began on Wednesday when Adamolekun took to social media to express her surprise and disapproval after her name appeared on the ADC committee list.

Tagging both Yesufu and ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Adamolekun wrote, “ADC! ADC! ADC! How many times did I call you? This is not how to build credibility o! Please show me evidence of when I joined your party! Na wa….”

Responding to the backlash, Abdullahi explained that the committee was not limited to party members but included non-partisan professionals to ensure credible policy input.

“Not everyone on the ADC Policy and Manifesto Committee is a member of the ADC. Many are not even politicians,” Abdullahi clarified.

“The task of developing workable public policies should not be left to politicians alone.”

He further stated that the party had undergone a vetting process and “took all necessary measures to ensure that everyone recommended to serve on this important committee was duly notified and had given their consent.”

Despite the clarification, public criticism persisted, prompting Yesufu to issue a formal apology on behalf of the party on Friday.

Taking responsibility for the oversight, she wrote on X, “This is inexcusable, and on behalf of my party, accept my apologies for this mix-up. You ought to have been informed and your consent gotten before your name is published.”

Yesufu acknowledged that the situation underscored the importance of due process, adding that the ADC would do better in future engagements.

“The work to rebuild Nigeria is enormous, and in our eagerness to start off, we must never forget due process and diligence,” she noted.

The activist also extended her apologies to others who may have been similarly affected, saying, “For anyone that was also not contacted and consent gotten before publication, kindly accept my apologies for the mix-up.”

The ADC 50 Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee, chaired by former Edo State Governor John Odigie-Oyegun, with renowned political economist Prof. Pat Utomi as deputy chairman, is tasked with developing a credible policy framework to position the party as a viable national alternative.

The committee is scheduled to be formally inaugurated on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.
