Nigerian actor Adekanla Desalu and comedian MC Monica have separately raised the alarm after allegedly losing over ₦4 million combined to fraudsters posing as Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials.

MC Monica stated that he received a text message informing him of an alleged traffic offence, along with a link directing him to pay a ₦5,000 fine. The following morning, after completing the transaction, he discovered that approximately ₦1.85 million had been fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account. He noted that his bank official informed him that the funds could not be recovered at the time.

Similarly, Desalu reported receiving a text message claiming he had violated speed limits and instructing him to pay a ₦2,500 fine through an attached link. After entering his payment details, he discovered that $2,500 had been deducted from his account.

Desalu, who previously worked in the banking sector and is familiar with fraud prevention methods, admitted that he failed to detect the fraudulent link in this instance.

Both entertainers have urged the public to avoid clicking on unverified links received via text messages or emails, especially those that request personal financial or banking information.
