Adamawa ADC Guber Candidate Warns Members Against Sacrificing Liberty

African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Engr. Omar Suleiman, has cautioned party members against compromising their liberty and reputation in pursuit of political ambitions.

Suleiman alleged a plot by some individuals to forge or manipulate party documents to challenge his candidacy, warning that anyone involved could face legal consequences.

In a statement issued in Yola, the Omar Suleiman Campaign Organisation said it had received what it described as “credible intelligence” that some individuals were attempting to manipulate party records at the ADC Secretariat.

The organisation also alleged that the individuals were mobilising party agents and election officials to append their signatures to documents allegedly intended for use in legal proceedings.

According to the campaign organisation, the alleged scheme was aimed at manufacturing, altering or forging party documents to create what it described as a false narrative around the ADC governorship ticket in Adamawa.

“We consider these allegations extremely serious. We are aware of the activities reportedly taking place around these individuals, and we are carefully documenting relevant information available to us,” the statement said.

The organisation further alleged that some of those involved were being accommodated at a hotel within Area 1, Garki axis of Abuja.

It warned that those allegedly involved should not assume that activities carried out in secrecy would remain undisclosed.

“Let it be known that political intrigues carried out in secrecy do not necessarily remain secret. The dark activities being planned and executed will, in due course, come to light,” it said.

The campaign organisation also cautioned ADC officials, agents and election officials against lending their names or signatures to what it described as “questionable documents”.

It said anyone who knowingly participated in the falsification of documents, the presentation of false evidence, forgery, the alteration of official records, or the making of false statements under oath could be subject to legal action under Nigerian law.

“No political ambition is worth sacrificing one’s liberty, reputation and future,” the organisation said, adding that those who sponsored such schemes often abandoned participants when the consequences emerged.

The campaign organisation described the alleged plot as an attempt to create confusion around the ADC governorship ticket, but said it would not be distracted from its political objectives.

“Our mandate is bigger than internal political manoeuvring. Omar Suleiman’s candidacy represents a commitment to building an Adamawa where government works, institutions work, and young people have opportunities,” it said.

The organisation said its “Omarana Agenda” was anchored on competence, development, accountability and inclusion, with the goal of building “an Adamawa That Works”.

It urged supporters to remain calm, disciplined and law-abiding, stressing that disputes should be resolved through lawful and constitutional channels rather than violence or intimidation.

The campaign organisation also appealed to ADC stakeholders to protect the party’s credibility and prevent it from becoming “another victim of the politics of desperation, manipulation and do-or-die ambition”.

“A political party that seeks to present itself as an alternative must demonstrate integrity not merely in its speeches, but in its conduct,” it said.

It further urged relevant authorities to investigate any credible information concerning alleged attempts to falsify political documents.

“Our destination is not the courtroom for manufactured controversies. Our destination is the people,” the statement concluded.

Efforts to obtain reactions from the ADC State Secretariat and other parties mentioned in the allegations were ongoing at press time.
