Adamawa State government has commenced the distribution of the next phase of its Fintiri Business Wallet scheme, targeting about 72,000 small business owners.

The director-general of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Michael Zira, disclosed this  to journalists in Yola.

According to him, the N3.75 billion intervention was approved to support petty traders, artisans and other small-scale business operators to expand their businesses and become more self-reliant.

Zira explained that the initiative is part of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri administration’s efforts to reduce poverty, strengthen small businesses, and improve the living conditions of residents across the state.

He stated that previous interventions introduced by the administration had already reduced the poverty rate in Adamawa State from 74 percent to 60 percent, expressing optimism that the figure would further decline before the end of the administration’s tenure.

The PAWECA Director-General added that both fresh applicants and beneficiaries from previous phases of the programme are eligible to benefit from the current intervention.

He also warned against any individual demanding money or attempting to extort beneficiaries during the distribution process, stressing that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted.

Dr. Zira assured that the distribution exercise would be transparent and fair, reaffirming the government’s commitment to creating more economic opportunities for the people of Adamawa State.
