The Adamawa State Government has banned car and power-bike racing across the state to eliminate environmental nuisance.
Commissioner of Environment in the state, Mohammed Sadiq, announced this in a statement in Yola, Adamawa State capital, on Tuesday.
Sadiq stated that car racing, power-bike racing, and all forms of unauthorised motor sports activities on public roads are strictly prohibited within the State.
“These reckless activities have continued to cause serious environmental nuisance, including noise pollution, air pollution, and threats to public safety.
“Most disturbing is the loss of lives of innocent people and children, which is unacceptable and deeply regrettable,” he said.
The statement warned that such sporting activity will not be tolerated again, stressing that “Any individual or group found engaging in car race stunts, power-bike racing, or similar activities on public roads will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Adamawa State.”
He urged all citizens to conduct themselves responsibly and cooperate with relevant authorities to ensure a safe, clean, and peaceful environment for everyone.
