Adamawa State government has partnered with the Nigeria Police Force to clamp down on motorists and traders disrupting free traffic and vehicular movement on Ngurore-Numan and Mayo-Belwa highways in the state
The chairman of Yola-South local government area, Mr Salihu Usman Malkohi, explained that the initiative was aimed to restore sanity on the busy road, thereby reducing accidents and traffic gridlock.
Malkohi reiterated that the operations would be a continuous process, urging residents to support the rural and urban renewal drive of Governor Fintiri’s administration.
He revealed that an alternative land measuring about 4.5 hectares has already been proposed as a grain market and motor park.
Tafisu Woroboki, a grasshopper seller, lauded the initiative, saying it is of great benefit to traders, motorists, and commuters.
ACP in charge of operations, Ibrahim Kambra, said the operation is imperative in view of the lawlessness around Ngurore market, which has been disrupting vehicular movement.
Kambra further explained that machinery has been put in place to ensure sustainability. He also revealed that successes and compliance were recorded in the operations.
He urged the people of the area to be law-abiding at all times.
