Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has announced a further review of the curfew imposed on Lamurde local government area.
Chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, said under the revised arrangement, movement is now unrestricted during the day, while the curfew will be observed daily from 9pm to 6am.
Governor Fintiri said the decision followed reports indicating sustained calm and improved security in the area following the recent crisis.
He noted that the further relaxation of the restriction was made possible by the cooperation of residents and the professionalism of security agencies deployed to maintain law and order.
He stressed, however, that the government would not condone any attempt to disrupt the peace achieved so far.
He warned that security operatives had been directed to remain vigilant and ensure strict compliance with the curfew.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups and women’s groups to continue promoting peace and embracing dialogue as a means of resolving differences.
